A new translation of the Old Testament, in modern Spanish, was issued here today. The two-volume edition, beautifully printed and bound, contains a translation of the Old Testament by Prof. Leon Dujovne and Manases and Moses Konstantinovsky. An important feature of the new edition is the transliteration of Hebrew names and place-names.
The only Old Testament translation by a Jew available here is one made 150 years ago and written in archaic style. There are several other Spanish translations, but both are very old and stem from Christian sources. The new edition contains about 1,000,000 words and runs to 1,400 pages.
