The French Court of Appeals granted a reprieve today to Jacques Barbier, a former collaborator with the Gestapo in Lyons, from his death sentence and ordered a new trial.
Barbier was sentenced to death for his wartime activities earlier this year by a French military court. The verdict was reversed on a technicality. The former collaborator will be tried again later this year by a French State Security Court.
