Israel complained of new Egyptian truce violations today to the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) in the Suez Canal zone. The complaint referred to overflights by two Egyptian Sukhoy-7 bombers of Israeli positions during the past 24 hours. The second overflight occurred at noon today, local time. The complaint did not mention the lofting by Egyptian forces of an observation balloon to photograph Israeli positions. The balloon was sent up twice today. But Israel does not consider it a cease-fire violation because the balloon remained on the Egyptian side of the cease-fire line. Israeli sources said the intensive Egyptian reconnaissance activity this week indicated nervousness as the cease-fire deadline approaches.
