An operation involving the insertion of a plastic Rullet in a human being was performed at Sinai Hospital here, according to an announcement released through the Associated Jewish Charities of Baltimore. The announcement stressed that the operation was the first successful one of its type.
Dr. Edgar F. Berman, who performed the operation on a patient suffering from cancer of the esophagus, said that the operation was the result of three years of research by him and his associates at the hospital’s Hoffberger Laboratory. He said that the primary use of the new operative technique is for patients suffering from cancer of the esophagus.
