Dr. Harry B. Epstein, well known local surgeon, has just published a book under the title “William Shakespeare M.D.” It is a short treatise on the remarkable knowledge of medicine, surgery and psychosis displayed by Shakespeare throughout his works. Highly technical terms have been eliminated and many of the poet’s lines are quoted to demonstrate the subtlety of his reference to ailments that did not find their place in medical records until a century after Shakespeare’s death. Dr. Epstein claims he studied Shakespeare and his works for forty-five years, before attempting publication of this book.
