After a year’s work, a new water pipline was completed today. Jerusalem will now get double the amount of water which it formerly received. The pipes for the new pipeline were received from the United States under the $100,000,000 loan obtained by Israel from the American Export-Import Bank.
Besides alleviating the scute water shortage in Jerusalem, the new pipeline will provide water for nearly 20 settlements in the “Jerusalem corridor.” It will also enable greater industrial development in the city. A special “water festival” is being planned by the Jerusalem municipality to celebrate completion of the pipeline.
