Epidemic diseases are again reaching a high level in the Warsaw Jewish ghetto, according to reliable reports reaching here today from Nazi-held Poland. Typhus cases have increased in number during the last fortnight and many deaths are reported among Jews in Warsaw.
One of the reports speaks of “thousands of Jews dying of epidemics in the Warsaw ghetto.” The fact that typhus and other epidemic diseases are again widespread in Poland is substantiated by an order carried in the Nazi press stating that people traveling on trains in occupied Eastern territory must first produce “delousing certificates” before securing their permit to travel.
