At a late hour last night, but before complete returns were in, sponsors of the twenty-first annual Palestine Flower Day, which was observed yesterday, said they expected to realize $8,000 in the New York area.
Throughout the day 3,000 adult volunteers and 8,000 children, equipped with collection boxes, solicited funds in Coney Island, Far Rockaway and other points crowded with New Yorkers seeking respite from the heat. Herman Quitman and Samuel Fishman were in charge.
In the afternoon an appeal was made by Mrs. Samuel W. Halprin, president of the Hadassah, over a national hook-up of the Columbia Broadcasting System. A program of Palestinian songs was presented by sixty singers of the Jewish Choral Society of the Y.M.H.A., directed by A. W. Binder.
Four hundred other Jewish communities throughout the United States sought to raise funds and enlist support for the land redemption projects in Palestine.
