Declaring that he had found in Israel a “very friendly attitude” towards the United States and Americans, Attorney General Louis J. Lefkowitz tonight expressed the opinion that regardless of whatever political party is in office in Washington in the future, Israel will at all times be looked upon as “a friend and a necessary outpost of democracy on a frontier where Communist aggressors seek a foothold. “He spoke at a meeting of the American Society for the Preservation and Maintenance of Holy Places in Israel.
“I am convinced that our American foreign policy will always be geared to a tenet that the people of this country will do nothing which will impede the development of Israel and will always be vigilant to protect the new republic from aggression by Soviet interests, “Mr. Lefkowitz stated. He added that “recognition by Americans generally that Israel is a solid ally and a bulwark against Soviet encroachment in the Middle East has resulted in renewed strengthening of ties in Israel’s relations with the United States.”
