Prof. Norman Bentwich, assistant to James G. MacDonald, League of Nations High Commissioner for Refugees coming from Germany, will address five meetings this week in behalf of the Greater New York Campaign of the United Jewish Appeal. On Sunday he will occupy the pulpit of Temple Rodeph Sholem, 7 West Eighty-third street.

A display featuring the various activities of Thrift House, the permanent rummage shop at 9 West Fifty-seventh street of which Mrs. Julius Ochs Adler is chairman, will be on view at Thrift House “Two Time” Party which will be given tomorrow evening at eighty-thirty, in the former Dobbs Building at 742 Fifth avenue.

A testimonial dinner to Jack Hartblay will be given Sunday evening at the Waldorf-Astoria. Borough President Samuel Levy and Judge Otto A. Rosalsky were announced yesterday as guest speakers. Dinner will be catered by the Patrician Caterers.

The Jewish Forum, a literary monthly, is conducting an essay contest on the Life and Influence of Moses Maimonides, to which everyone anywhere is eligible.

Arrangements are being made by the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) for the celebration of Passover by Jewish immigrants at Ellis Island and by homeless and unemployed at the institution’s home, Issac L. Asofsky, general manager, announced yesterday. In the HIAS building, 425 Lafayette street, services will be conducted and Passover meals will be furnished during the entire holiday. Seder services will be held at Ellis Island.

Judge Julian W. Mack has accepted the honorary chairmanship of the dinner which will be held at the Grand Street Boys’ Club on Sunday evening, May 5, in celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Young Judaea, David Levine, national president, announced yesterday.

Antonia, daughter of the seventeenth century Eberhard III, Duke of Wurtemberg, attained a considerable knowledge of Hebrew.
