Hebrew has been included as a fully accredited foreign language by four additional public junior and senior high schools in New York City. A total of about 70 New York City schools now teach Hebrew language and culture as part of their regular language studies program.
Hebrew is now taught in the public high schools of 16 cities in nine states, including, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Rhode Island. More than 1,400 colleges in the United States grant admission credit for Hebrew studied in accredited secondary schools, and Hebrew is taught in over 200 colleges in the country, according to the Jewish Education Committee of New York.
