Official felicitations of New York City were extended by Acting Mayor McKee to the Jewish community.
In his message the Acting Mayor said:
“Here in America, and more particularly in New York City, where the Jewish population has grown so great in number, there is especial occasion for thankful prayer that the forces of bigotry and prejudice, which have so long hampered the Jew, have found no sympathy. Instead, there has been a spirit of broad-mindedness that has permitted every man. irrespective of race or creed, to take his place as a leader in the various activities that have made New York the centre of the entire world.”
An enrollment of seventy men for the academic year 1927-28 in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aeronautics at New York University was announced by Prof. Alexander Klemin, head of the school.
Thirty-four courses are included in the curriculum offered. A staff of eight faculty members, besides visiting specialists and the College of Engineering members, will teach in the Guggenheim school.
The Jewish Division of the New York Public Library will close on Oct. 5, 1927 at 6 p. m. and reopen Oct. 7, remaining closed for Yom Kippur.
The catalogue of the Jewish Division will be available to the public and books from the Jewish Division can be drawn for use in the Main Reading Room.
