The erection of a $5,500,000 Jewish hospital in Long Island was lauded here today by Dr. Marcus D. Kogel, New York City Commissioner of Hospitals. A ceremony at which the cornerstone for the hospital was laid, took place on Sunday. When completed, the hospital will be five stories high and will have 205 beds with service facilities for possible expansion to 500 beds. The hospital will operate on a non-sectarian basis will derive annual maintenance funds from the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York with which it will be affiliated.
