Appeals for United States Government assistance to Israel were made here yesterday by New York Mayor Robert F. Wagner and visiting Haifa Mayor Abba Hushi at an official New York City luncheon at the Waldorf-Astoria.
Mayor Wagner called on the U.S. to help Israel “not by words but by action.” Such aid to the Jewish State. New York City’s chief executive insisted, “will pay large dividends for democracy.”
