A single-handed campaign to save Mordechai Schwartz, Palestine constable convicted of killing an Arab policeman last year, from the gallows on Aug. 16 is being conducted by his cousin, Kalman Weisz, New York embroidery importer, it was revealed here today.
Mr. Weisz has induced 11 Jewish and non-Jewish organizations to cable Colonial Secretary Malcolm MacDonald urging commutation of sentence or a stay in execution. Among the organizations which have cabled are the Union of Orthodox Rabbis, the New Zionist Organization, the Agudath Israel, the Mizrachi Organization, the Pro-Palestine Federation, B’rith Sholom and others.
