The first section of the multi-million dollar rayon plant being established at Ashdot by Israel Rogosin. New York industrialist, was set into operation last night in ceremonies in which Mr. Rogosin, Israel Commerce Minister Pinchas Saphir, and about one thousand members of the public participated.
The unit put into operation occupies only about one-seventh of the huge plant which covers more than an acre of ground. It will produce rayon cord for automobile tires and rayon yarn for fabrics. Mr. Rogosin described the machinery installed in the plant as of the latest type and more advanced than the machinery in his own mills in the United States.
Minister of Commerce Saphir hailed Mr. Rogosin’s initiative in establishing the plant in what is destined to be a new industrial complex for Israel and expressed the hope that it would set an example for other Jewish Industrialists to bring their capital and know-how to Israel.
