New York is requiring people who market kosher food to tell the state who supervised and certified the food’s preparation. The new law is designed to give kosher food purchasers more confidence that their food has been prepared in accordance with kosher law. The law is the product of a task force set up by Sheldon Silver, speaker of the state assembly, and Attorney General Eliot Spitzer.
