Regular New York-Jerusalem air service for passengers will be started by the Trans-World Airways in April, it was announced today. Planes will leave LaGuardia Field and are expected to complete the flight to Palestine in 36 hours of flying time.
The service will be inaugurated with a flight for the Palestine Economic Bureau of the Zionist Organization of America, on April 25. The maiden flight of TWA’s Constellation plane will carry a group of American industrialists and businessmen on the first post-war trade tour of the Holy Land. Due to space limitation the party will consist of only thirty men, selected from all over the country, as well as Canada, representing diverse industrial and commercial interests.
In Palestine, the full facilities of the Jewish Agency will be made available so that members of the group can have the opportunity of surveying for themselves the country’s economic possibilities. The feasibility of setting up branch factories and distributing centers will be studied and an organized month’s tour of the country will present a detailed survey of Palestine’s unexampled growth and the needs for American merchandise, machinery and equipment and the possibilities of expanded U.S. investment.
