Dr. Howard T. Behrman, professor of clinical dermatology at the New York Medical College, has contributed $500,000 in the form of an irrevocable trust for endowing a professorship in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital’s new medical school, it was announced here today. The announcement was made by Gustave L. Levy, president of Mount Sinai, who said that the professorship would be named after Dr. Berhman.
Dr. Behrman, who is 53, was born in Woodbine, N.J., where his father, the late Dr. I. Percy Behrman, practiced medicine, often making house calls in a horse-drawn sleigh. Mr. Levy said that the famous Jewish skin specialist had asked, when he made his gift last summer, that the contribution remain unannounced and anonymous.
