The design for a planned New York monument commemorating the martyrs of Hitler’s holocaust was flatly rejected here tonight by the Committee for the Six Million. The group represents 34 national and local Jews murdered by the Hitler regime.
At a meeting of the committee tonight, presided over by Dr. Joachim Prinz, president of the American Jewish Congress, a resolution was adopted unanimously criticizing the New York City Art Commission for accepting a design for the proposed memorial without consulting the committee. The site selected for the memorial, said Dr. Prinz, is acceptable. That location is in Lincoln Square, a small city park facing the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
