Mayor William O’Dwyer yesterday urged community##de support of the 1947 appeal of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York for $15,000,000, warning that failure to reach this goal “could well spell dis##ter” for the 116 Federation-affiliated hospitals, health and social welfare institutions and would cause the entire city to suffer because they make “an enormous contribution to the solution of our social welfare problems.” In his message the Mayor asked that people of “all races and faiths contribute to the drive, saying ##at in dispensing its services to 350,000 men, women and children the Federation ## non-sectarian.”
