In a ceremony at City Hall today, Mayor Robert F. Wagner proclaimed March 8 as “Ort-Day” 1961, in honor of the more than 58,000 members of Women’s American Ort in the New York area and throughout the country.
The proclamation praised Ort for providing “trained manpower for nations of the free world and skilled hands for underdeveloped nations,” and for “vital and constructive rehabilitation of underprivileged and deprived people throughout the world.”
