The 19th of April was today proclaimed “Warsaw Ghetto Day” in New York by Mayor Robert F. Wagner at a City Hall ceremony attended by leaders of Polish Jewry in this city. The proclamation was issued a day late because yesterday was the second day of Passover. “The battle in the streets within the walls of the Warsaw Ghetto proves that people all over the earth will always give their lives for the cause of freedom,” Mayor Wagner declared.
