The prediction that a "quick peace would be achieved in Palestine" and that Israel was "bound to become a great training center in the Middle East" was made here last night by Bartley C, Carom, publisher of the New York Star, at a dinner marking the close of the 1948 campaign of the Women *s League for Israel. Ted 0. Thackrey, co-editor and co-publisher of the New York Post Home News, was presented with a citation for his "outstanding services to the Jewish state of Israel and to the Jewish people."
