New York City’s prolonged school teachers’ strike had unexpected repercussions on Israel’s tourist industry, it was learned here today. Hotels have reported many cancellations from American families who had planned to visit Israel and the Christian holy places during the Christmas holiday. Their plans were thwarted when the New York Board of Education cancelled the mid-winter vacation so that students could make up the time lost because of the strike.
