New York to Have Museum of Jewish Religious Art; to Be Removed from National Museum Washington Owing

The city of New York will shortly have a new Jewish Museum consisting of valuable collection of Jewish religious ceremonial objects. The collection was, for twenty years, housed in the National Museum of the United States where it was under the supervision of Dr. Casanowicz. The collection was the property of a New York Jewish family who have been adding to it throughout the years. Recently the family was compelled to sell the collection, but the United States government was unable to make the purchase because of lack of an appropriation. Subsequently, it was purchased by a group of wealthy New York Jews and it will be moved to New York.

The collection contains Jewish art objects from different periods of Jewish history and while it was on exhibition at the National Museum here, it was the center of attraction for thousands of visitors, Christians as well as Jews.
