The United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York has raised more than $28, 000, 000 during its 1961 fiscal year, it was reported today by president Monroe Goldwater to the annual meeting of New York UJA’s board of directors.
The directors reelected Samuel Hausman as board chairman of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York, Inc., the membership corporation sponsoring the annual UJA drives in this area.” Mr. Goldwater war renamed president of the corporation. Edwin Rosenberg was reelected chairman of the executive committee. All other officers were also reelected.
“Funds raised by the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York are used for relief and other welfare activities for Jews in 27 countries overseas, for resettlement and rehabilitation aid for refugee newcomers to Israel, the United States and other havens in the free world, and for morale and welfare programs for American Jewish youth in the armed forces and home communities,” Mr. Goldwater emphasized in his report.
