An audience of Jewish cultural leaders and prominent writers attended the performance last night of “The Lonesome Ship,” a dramatic play by Moshe Dluzhnovsky, well-known novelist and playwright, depicting the tragedy of Jews attempting to escape from Nazi brutality.
The performance marked the season’s opening of the “Folksbiene,” a Jewish theatrical institution with 40 years tradition of presenting a repertory of the best in Yiddish literature. It is directed by David Licht, Jewish theatrical director.
