The Zionists of New York turned out in numbers to give a rousing welcome-home reception to Louis Lipsky, President of the Zionist Organization of America and member of the World Zionist Executive.
He was taken off the “Aquitania” by special arrangement and brought to Battery Park aboard the Mayor’s boat of welcome by a host of friends and fellow Zionists. The boat flew the Zionist colors, as did the fleet of automobiles which later carried the entire gathering to the Zionist headquarters.
A cordial reception was extended to Mr. Lipsky in the very room where he has been conducting so ably Zionist activities in this country for over two decades. Miss Henrietta Szold, Mr. Shulman, representing Chicago Zionists, and Rabbi Ebin welcomed the returned president in brief addresses.
“Now that I have been in Palestine and seen with my own eyes what is being done there by our pioneers I can say that their work is much underestinated when spoken of in this country or anywhere else outside of Palestine”, Mr. Lipsky declared before a representative of the Jewish Daily Bulletin. “I do not refer so much to the material side of Palestine, to those things which the eye can see, the ear hear and the heart feel. Anyone going to Palestine can see the many new houses being built, the countryside under cultivation and the towns and colonies peceptibly improving.
