A call for “unity and harmonious cooperation” between Zionists of all shades of opinion was voiced here last night by Abraham Redelheim, newly elected president of the Zionist Organization of America, following the close of the ZOA convention.
At the same time, he cautioned against the growing assimilationist and anti-Zionist influences in the country. He said these influences must “be combatted with all vigor if we are to preserve a virile and culturally creative Jewish community in this country.” He pledged his administration to what he called an enlarged program for furtherance of Zionist education in all its facets, promotion of Hebrew and its literature, encouragement of aliyah and chalutzfut.
Mr. Redelheim has held several high posts in the ZOA in his 40 years of association with the organization. He was chairman of the National Administration Council, former president of the B’nai Zion and chairman of the Histadruth Ivrit.
