Alan V. Loewenstein, Newark attorney and former president of the Jewish Community Council of Essex County, has been elected president of the Welfare Federation of Newark. He is the first Jew ever to be elected to the post.
Mr. Loewenstein has served as chairman of the legal committee of the Adoption Advisory Council set up to revise the child adoption laws of New Jersey and is a member of the faculty of the Rutgers University Law School.
