President Nixon, replying to congratulatory messages from President Zalman Shazar and Premier Golda Meir on the Apollo 11 moon mission, expressed his thanks “on behalf of the American people and especially the astronauts.” The President said the flight “has added a new dimension to human experience. Let us hope it will also usher in an era of increasingly fruitful international understanding and cooperation.”
