Isaac Gruenbaum, member of the Palestine Jewish Agency Executive in charge of the Immigration Department of the Jewish Agency, said at a public meeting here that certain Zionists are boycotting the Zionist National Funds, the Keren Hayesod and the Jewish National Fund.
Against the protest of Revisionists present, Mr. Gruenbaum insisted that the Mizrachi “is engaged in this scandalous behavior.”
Deputy Weissman, member of the Jewish Club of Deputies in the Roumanian Parliament and a Zionist leader in that country, has communicated with directors of the Keren Hayesod in Jerusalem demanding an inquiry.
In Vienna, Rabbi Meir Berlin, chairman of the executive of the Mizrachi World Organization, explained at a meeting of the Mizrachi that the official attitude toward the collections for the Zionist National Funds is due to the opposition to new Zionist leadership.
The leaders of the Mizrachi, said Rabbi Berlin, will not participate in the Keren Hayesod propaganda program although individual Mizrachi members will remain faithful to the organization.
Regarding the work for the Keren Hayesod, Mizrachi leaders will submit their demands for the widespread observance of the Sabbath to Mizrachi leaders, and of kashruth in workers’ kitchens situated on Jewish national land.
Under no circumstances, said Rabbi Berlin, would the Mizrachi adopt the tactics of the Agudath Israel, which he charged with leaving the upbuilding of Palestine to others.
A conference of the Mizrachi leaders will be called here shortly At that time, Rabbi Berlin said, the attitude of the Mizrachi toward the newly-elected Zionist Executive will be finally determined.
