Plans for the purchase of a new and enlarged building have been made by the newly-elected board of directors of the Beth David Hospital, which has outgrown its present location at Lexington Avenue and 113th Street. A campaign to raise funds for this purpose will be launched shortly, directed by Dr. Samuel G. Ascher.
Arthur I. LeVine was reelected president of the hospital. Israel Sachs was elected first vice-president. Other officers include Charles Greenberg, Charles Loventhal and Hyman Markofsky.
JUNIOR FEDERATION BALL
Governor and Mrs. Herbert H. Lehman head the list of sponsors of the annual dance of Junior Federation at the Hotel Plaza, Saturday evening, March 3. This year’s affair, a tropical supper dance, is again held for the purpose of contributing funds to Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthopic Societies and affiliated institutions.
ORATORS COMPETING
With an eye to the finals of the annual national oratorical contest for Y.M.H.A.’s, Y.M.H.A.’s and Jewish Community Centers on February 25 at the Lexington Avernue and 92nd Street “Y,” young men and women throughout the city are competing in the preliminary Metropolitan League of Jewish Centers Oratorical Contest.
Preliminary elimination tourneys are being conducted in each of the four regions into which the city has been segregated for the contest. Subjects are ” The Role of American Jewish Youth in the New Order,” and ” Status of the Jew in the Western World.”
BORO PARK DANCE
The annual dance and gala minstrel show of the Young Israel of Boro Park will be held on Saturday evening, Fevruary 24, in the Grand Ballrom of the Menorah Building, 14th Avenue and 50th Street. “The Black Frolies,” to be presented at the festivities, will have a cast of forty.
VETERANS TO MEET
A meeting of the Bronx Post No. 64, Jewish War Veterans of the United States, will be held on Thursday evening, Febuary 8, at the organization’s headquarters, 1786 Washington Avenue. Joseph Miller, 1100 Grand Concourse, is chairman of the membership committee.

A surprise luncheon to Mrs. Hattie Weinberger, in honor of her tenth year of service as president of the Sisterhood, was tendered of the Board of Directors of the Sisterhood of the Park Avenue Synagogue, 50 East 87th Street. The luncheon was held at the Croydon.

K. George Falk was unanimously reelected president of the Hebrew Technical Institute at the annual board of directors meeting ywsterday, following the annual meeting of the organization at which Mr. Falk, James A. Goldsmith, Alfred Rheinstein and Edward I. Shire were reelected members of the board of trustees of the institution.

Installation of newly-elected officers of the ladies’ auxiliary of the Hebrew Institute of Boro Park will take place this evening at 5012 13th Avenue, Brooklyn. Mrs. Fannie H. Feuerstein will be installed as president and the honorary presidents will be Mrs. N. P. Shapiro and Mrs. F. Bienenstock. Other officers include Mrs. A. Andron, Mrs. J. C. Heckelman, Mrs. M. Heller, Mrs. S. Reich, Mrs. J. Schraeter and Mrs. W. Weintraub Rabbi Joseph Miller of Flathush will speak.
BRONX ELOCUTION COURSE
A course in public speaking is offered to members by the Young People’s League of the United Synagogue of America. Classes will be held every Thursday night at 7:30 at Congregation Adath Israel, 169th Street and Grand Concurse, Bronx. A professional elocution instructor together with a group of rabbis will teach, says Mr. I. Saul Fleischman, chairman of the League.

About 85 people attended the regular monthly meeting of the Stuyvesant group of Hadassah at the George Washington Hotel, 23rd Street and Lixington Avenue. The hostesses were Mrs. Ernest. Gladstone, Mrs. Harry Levent, Mrs. Irving Schwartz and Mrs. Joseph Lieber.
Isabelle Fay spoke on Sholem Asch’s “Three Cities,” and Mrs. Ethel Gargten sang.
