Newspaper columnist Carl Alpert died May 12 at age 92. Alpert moved to Israel with his wife, Nechama, in 1949 and began working in the new public relations and fund-raising department at Haifa’s Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, the Jerusalem Post reported. After 14 years there, he was appointed executive vice chairman of the Technion’s International Board of Governors. Alpert’s column, which he started writing in 1937, was published over the years in close to 70 Jewish newspapers and magazines around the world.
