New disorders broke out in the Holy Land today as leaders of the Arab world gathered at Mecca and conferred on the future course of Near Eastern politics, the Havas News Agency reported.
A band of Arabs attacked a mounted police patrol near Lake Huleh and was routed after a sharp clash.
Because of increasing outbreaks in Northern Palestine, authorities today banned all travelling after nightfall between Safed and Acre. The Government also increased its military and public security budget appropriations by $1,150,000 to combat the new outburst of violence.
The conference at Mecca coincided with a pilgrimage from all parts of the Moslem world to pay homage to the shrine of the prophet Mohammed at Mecca. King Ghazi of Iraq. Ibn Saud of Yemen, and chiefs from all parts of Arabia and the Levant gathered in solemn conclave to decide, if possible, on a joint pan-Arab policy.
The nub of the discussion was the Palestine issue, where the Arab question is posed now in its most acute form. It was rumored that Ibn Saud would henceforth take an active part in settling the Arab-Jewish problem. Utmost secrecy was maintained as to the decisions taken.
