The National Jewish Welfare Board has announced that nine new Jewish chaplains have entered the United States armed forces in time to officiate at Rosh Hashonah services for Jewish military personnel. According to Rabbi Selwyn D. Russlander, chairman of the JWB commission on Jewish chaplaincy, four of the chaplains have gone into the Army, four are assigned to the Air Force and one will serve the Navy. They are replacing Jewish chaplains who have completed their tours of duty and have been released from active service.
