President Nixon, at the Western White House in San Clemente, Calif., has signed legislation authorizing up to $85 million in a US Government grant to help the resettlement of Jews and others who have emigrated from the Soviet Union, it was announced today. The provision is contained in an authorization bill which approves nearly $1 billion for agencies engaged in foreign affairs including $648 million authorized to the State Department, $200 million to the US Information Agency and $42 million for international narcotics controls. Under the provisions of the legislation the State Department will control the expenditure of the funds for the resettlement of the Soviet emigrants, most of whom are Jews who have opted to live in Israel.
