An official statement said today that the Palestine Government did not have “the slightest intention to introduce conscription in Palestine.”
The statement pointed out that an ordinance published on June 21 empowered the High Commissioner to make regulations for the requisitioning of persons and property to carry out exceptional measures to meet the war situation, but “there was no intention to conscript.”
