Prime Minister Moshe Sharett today told the Israel Parliament that the attendance of Dr. F. Shinnar, head of the Israel purchasing mission in Germany, at a diplomatic reception given by the West German Government should not be interpreted as meaning that Israel was approaching a normalization of diplomatic relations with Germany.
Mr. Sharett made this statement in reply to a question by a member of Parliament who wanted to know whether Dr. Shinnar’s attendance at the affair constituted an approach toward restoring diplomatic relations between Israel and the Bonn Government.
(At the United Nations it was learned today that the Israel delegation had absolutely no contact with the West German representation there. It was noted that the lack of contact was such that the Israel delegation could not make known to Bonn its concern over the fact that Bonn had recently named an ex-Nazi leader to head its representation at the UN.)
