Foreign Ministry officials had no comment today–and professed no knowledge–of a joint statement issued by the Bangladesh leader Sheikh Mujib Urahman and Soviet Premier Aleksei N. Kosygin calling on Israel to withdraw from the administered territories. The statement was published yesterday in Moscow. Israel is still waiting for a Bangladesh acknowledgement of Israel’s letter sent last month announcing its recognition of the new state. Observers here believe that the fact that Bangladesh is a Moslem state combined with its pro-Soviet orientation presents little chance of a positive relationship with Israel.
