The Government sees no possibility of the armed forces in Palestine being reduced in the near future, Colonial Secretary Malcolm MacDonald told the House of Commons today. He said there were now 7,300 men in the Palestine police forces, 700 in the air force units and 15,500 officers and men in the army. Upkeep of the Royal Air Force units costs-130,000 a month, he stated. Although he said accounts for the land forces were more difficult to estimate, he indicated that the extra expenses entailed by reinforcements of the normal effectives totalled L=175,000 a month.
