Israel’s non-Jewish population was reported this weekend to total 250,000, an increase of more than 100,000 since Israel was established.

In addition to the natural increase of population among the Arabs of 48.2 per 1,000–among the highest rates in the world–compared to 18.6 for the Jewish sector of Israel’s population, some 35,000 repatriates helped account for the increase. Israel’s non-Jews include 171,000 Moslem Arabs, 50,000 Christian Arabs and 24,000 Druse.
