Non-Jewish students from 22 countries on all continents are studying at the Hebrew University this year, it was disclosed today at a university reception in their honor.

Welcoming the students on behalf of the university, Prof. Ephraim Urbach, rector, noted that most students from Europe and the United States were studying the humanities, particularly in fields related to the Bible, archaeology and history. African and Asian students, he noted, concentrate on medicine, agriculture and the natural sciences.

Several of the students discussed their reasons for coming to Israel to study. A young student from Tanganyika and another from Brazil, who arrived a year ago, spoke in fluent Hebrew but some Swiss and Australian students confessed they had not yet managed to learn the language.
