Samuel Kaplan, 470 Ocean Parkway, and Morris Levine, 1317 Brighton Beach avenue, two meat handlers, are today out on bail of $500 each awaiting trial in the Court of Special Sessions on charges of selling non-kosher meat under the pretense that it was kosher. Bail was imposed by Magistrate John D. Mason in the Snyder Avenue Court.
Kaplan, who with his son has a meat market at 222 Ditmas avenue. was arrested by George Ringler, investigator for the State Department of Agriculture and Markets. The charge against Kaplan was that he used false kosher seals on meat and then sold it ### kosher delicatessen stores. Kaplan denies the charge.
Benny Resnick, butcher of 358 Utica avenue, appeared against Levine. Resnick claimed that Levine had sold him non-kosher liver. Inspector Ringler backed up Resnick’s testimony and declared he had found non-kosher meat in Levine’s establishment. All are of Brooklyn.
