Norman Podhoretz, a 30-year-old writer and critic, has been appointed editor of Commentary, the monthly magazine published by the American Jewish Committee, it was announced here today by the A.J.C. He succeeds the late Elliott E. Cohen, founder of the magazine, who died last May.
A native New Yorker and formerly a Pulitzer scholar at Columbia College, Mr. Podhoretz holds degrees from Columbia, Cambridge University and the Jewish Theological Seminary. A Fulbright and Kellet Fellow at Cambridge, he taught English literature and English moral philosophy at Clare College, Cambridge. He has contributed widely to many literary Journals and magazines, including Commentary.
