The creation of a central refugee organization by the League of Nations, was today urged by the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Halvdan Koht, in a speech delivered in the general debate at the session of the League Assembly here.
Emphasizing the terrible position of refugees, but without making any direct reference to Germany, M. Koht asked for the active financial assistance of the various governments to solve the refugee problem.
The chances that such a refugee organization will be established at this time, are however, very slim. The Assembly is expected only to adopt a resolution which it will submit to the decision of the League Council next January first, recommending the creation of a refugee organization, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency correspondent learns from authoritative sources.
