Not all the Jewish settlers who went to Bureya are satisfied, declares a telegram from Tichonkoye published in the Communist Yiddish daily, “Emes.”
At a general meeting of the settlers, it was decided to take severe measures against a small number of hooligans who are molesting them.
The telegram states that most of the pioneers are healthy and satisfied with local conditions. The group from Smolensk are working in the woods, earning eight roubles daily. The Homler group has already started work in the fields.
Merchandise valued at 10,000 roubles has arrived for the first cooperative which will be opened soon. Four tractors, sowing machines and equipment for the workshops arrived in Ticonkoye.
