A memorial meeting for the late Israel Unterberg, president, of the Jewish Education Association, was held last night at the Unterberg Auditorium of the Jewish Theological Seminary, Broadway and 122 street. Mr. Unterberg died thirty days ago.
Included among the speakers who eulogized the late philanthropist’s career were Dr. Cyrus Adler, president of the Jewish Theological Seminary; Fred M. Stein, president of the Montefiore Hospital; George Hyman, of Syracuse, N. Y.; Dr. Solomon Lowenstein, executive director of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, and Bernard Semel, honorary secretary of the Jewish Educational Association.
The opening prayer was made by Rabbi Henry Fisher. Cantor Morris Nathanson chanted the memorial prayer. Mitchell Luftman, attorney at 1302 Southern boulevard, Bronx will conduct a travel group through Soviet Russia, Poland, Rumania and Palestine, according to an announcement yesterday. Mr. Luftman, who is a well-in-formed traveller, will sail with the group June 29 on the Holland-America liner Statendam.
