The Jewish poetess, Else Lasker-Schuler, is among the German Jews who have disappeared without a trace, the Manchester Guardian reports. Others who have disappeared include Dr. Fritz Naphtali, noted economist, who has been associated with the Frankfurter Zeitung; Dr. Litten, of Berlin, who was known as a defender of the poor in the Berlin courts, and Walter Schuppic, editor of the Sudduetsche Sonntagpost, who was arrested by the Nazis on March 9.
While not suggesting that these people have all been killed, the Guardian suspects they have been imprisoned in concentration camps under frightful conditions. Some of them may have escaped and may be in hiding, it is pointed out.
Frau Lasker-Schuler is in Zurich, Switzerland, it was learned here yesterday.
Dr. S. Margoshes, editor of The Day, notified the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that he had received a letter from the noted poetess within the last few days, in which she told of her flight from Germany and declared that she had taken up residence in Zurich.
